LHS Library COVID-19 Procedures

2020-2021

 

 

The District Librarians have met several times over the summer, using the recommendations of KSDE, the CDC, ALA, and KASL for managing the libraries in our school district for the 2020 – 2021 school year.

The library section has been added to the document.  There are competencies for each grade included.

 

The following are the procedures at the Liberal High School Library:

Common Space Guidance:​

  • Hand sanitizer will be required for anyone entering the library (will be provided).

  • Students must SWIPE in, then sign in and designate the number of where they will be sitting.  Students will SWIPE out when leaving the library.

  • Students and staff will need to social distance at all times, and wear masks at all times. 

  • Tables and chairs will be spaced apart for social distancing. All tables and chairs are numbered for contact tracing purposes.  Tables will be disinfected following use.

  • Students using computers will be socially distanced & computers will be disinfected following use.

  • Sneeze guards are  installed at the circulation desk.

 

Book Check-OUT:

  • Students can check out books in person with the above common space guidelines OR

  • Students can browse the catalog online, email the Librarian, Tina Stucky @ tina.stucky@usd480.net  who will check out the books for pick-up in the library.   Curb-side delivery is also available outside Door #4 for remote learners.

  • Classroom sets of books may also be delivered to classrooms.

  • Library website will also include online resources.

Book Handling/Check-IN:

  • Hand sanitizer will be used before handling books.

  • Books will be collected in our return box.

  • Book covers will be wiped with disinfecting wipes.

  • Books will be quarantined for three days before checking in and shelving.  They will be placed on carts marked with three-day rotations.

  • An outside book drop is also available outside Door #4 (between the Main Campus and the Annex Building).
